Scholar - Skin

Scholar - Skin

Just relax.

8-bit, near-inaudible vocals against 140 bpm styled jams are quickly reaching saturation point but Scholar stands out with their debut track, Skin. Not much can be said about Scholar apart from their affiliation with the on-point management group, Breaknative who JOY is managed by (coincidentally Scholar just dropped a remix for her tune Captured - listen HERE) but their identity is irrelevant when tracks like Skin exist.

Starting out with a slow throbbing bass, skittering vocals and an uplifting mood it's hard not to be spirited away. Indeed, just before the restless drum beat kicks in at the chorus the pause between there and the bridge allow it to breathe perfectly, just adding that little something. It then slips away into a slathering of intoxicating synths and heavily repeated vocals samples. It's hard not to have fun with Skin as it takes you into the restless world of breaknative artist Scholar. It's also got a free download, enjoy.
