New Music: Warpaint - No Way Out (Redux)

No Way Out (Redux) is part of a series of non-album tracks to be released by Warpaint.

Part of a non-album release of tracks, No Way Out (Redux) is presumably a recycled track from the Warpaint album sessions considering redux means to unearth, but regardless it shows a Warpaint in control. Indeed, one of the major issues of their most recent album Warpaint was it’s aimlessness, but No Way Out is like that walk home where all the lights are blown; the bass is your thudding heart, the riffs are the irrational head turns where you swear something is there and the vocals personify fear itself. The drums then kick in and now you’re running, from what you don’t know but you just have to. The track then reaches a mind-numbing paranoia as the vocals bounce around crying, "I can’t find my way". But it feels all too short as the vocals abruptly stop and from live recordings of this track it’s far longer.
